EFFECTIVE 8/2/23, OUR FEE SCHEDULE HAS TEMPORARILY CHANGED TO REFLECT THE BUDGET IMPASSE WHICH HALTED THE CURRENT WRIT TAX FEE.  PLEASE CALL OUR OFFICE TO VERIFY THE CORRECT FEE FOR YOUR DOCUMENTS.

Marriage License Applications:  YOU MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT and bring the online filled out application HERE with $50, cash/check, photo ID and social security card. You must bring a copy of your most recent divorce decree or have the decree file number.  Call the Prothonotary’s office for that information. Bring a copy of the death certificate for deceased spouses.

Appointments are Monday and Wednesdays from 8am-3pm (if possible).

Certified Copy of Marriage License:  Send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with $5 check made payable to “Clerk of Orphans’ Court” and send to Orphans’ Court, 825 Philadelphia St., Indiana, PA  15701.  Include a note with your maiden name, married name, spouse name, a contact number and year of marriage.  We will send the gold seal copy that you need for driver’s license center.

Real ID date has been extended to May 7, 2025.

Passports: WE ARE NO LONGER PASSPORT AGENTS.  Please do not contact our office for passport information.  You may contact the Indiana Post Office for an appointment to process new passports at 724.465.4771.

Estates:  We request that you make an appointment before coming in to probate. Email theckler@indianacountypa.gov to make an appointment, calculate costs, or receive forms. For probate, email a copy of the Petition, death certificate, Wills/Renunciations and number of short certificates desired for a total cost figure.  Inheritance tax payments can be sent by mail and the postmarked date will be used for payment date.

Deeds/Mortgages/Satisfaction/All land documents:  We are recording documents online or by mail.  Any parcel in these townships MUST specify a school district:  Blacklick, Canoe, Young.
